Our Story

NextGen Voices is a registered non-profit company founded in May 2025 by Palesa Monahadi, a professional from Kroonstad, and Dr. Maryke La Grange-Taylor, an Education Specialist in Mathematics and a Psychotherapist. Our goal is to empower and develop youth, particularly high school learners from rural, peri-urban, and under-resourced communities, through education and skills training. We aim to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity, equipping young people with the tools, knowledge, and mentorship needed to overcome environmental limitations and achieve their dreams.

BEING. BELONGING. BECOMING.

To foster a generation of confident, capable, and career-ready South African youth, leading the way toward reduced unemployment and thriving communities.
To bridge the gap between potential and opportunity in under-resourced communities by empowering high school learners with the tools, knowledge, and mentorship required to reach beyond their environmental limitations.

How We Do It

Our activities include various events, such as masterclasses and career expos, that expose learners to a variety of professions, professionals, and post-matric study and skills training opportunities. We focus on personal development and self-identity as a catalyst for purposeful career planning from as early as Grade 8, teaching self-awareness, cultivating a growth mindset, resilience, and successful transition from school to the world of work. As we grow, we will expand our support to post-matric youth, including bursaries, scholarships, internships, and leadership training.

Our Core Values

Our foundational values include:

Why We Exist

With over 45% youth unemployment nationally and a growing number of graduates entering the market, there is a critical mismatch between qualifications obtained and the skills needed in the economy. Poor career guidance at the school level leads many youth to make uninformed, costly decisions about their futures. We exist to guide youth toward informed career decisions, reducing risks and helping them change the legacies of poverty in their families.

Our Impact Areas

Addressing youth unemployment through career guidance and mentorship

Personal growth and leadership development

Bridging education with real-world opportunities
